Job Opportunity: Sr Technical Project Manager
We are seeking a highly experienced Sr Technical Project Manager for a critical role with Capital One. This position offers a long-term engagement, with a preference for candidates with prior experience at Capital One and those local to the Richmond, VA or McLean, VA areas. Strong financial industry experience is a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate project status, risks, and issues to all levels of stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors, team members, and external partners.
- Technical Understanding: Possess a solid understanding of technical concepts relevant to project delivery, enabling informed decision-making and risk assessment.
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and budgets. Drive project execution, ensuring adherence to plan and proactive management of deviations.
- Project/Program Tracking: Implement and maintain robust tracking mechanisms to monitor project progress against milestones and deliverables.
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues. Develop contingency plans and ensure timely resolution.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging open communication and shared ownership. Work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Timeline & Delivery Management: Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope, meeting all quality standards and client expectations.
- Process & Governance: Adhere to established project management methodologies and governance frameworks. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation. Provide regular status reports to stakeholders.
- Adaptability & Prioritization: Manage competing priorities and adapt to changing project requirements in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Technical Project Manager, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex technical projects from initiation to closure.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
- Prior experience with Capital One is highly desirable.
- Local candidates to Richmond, VA or McLean, VA are preferred.
