Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Database Architect to design and execute large-scale database migrations from legacy RDBMS and NoSQL systems to PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis. This role involves architecting data models, indexing strategies, partitioning, and sharding for high-volume workloads, and leading schema evolution, data transformation, and consistency validation during migrations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database architecture, performance tuning, and experience with various database technologies, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and execute large-scale database migrations from legacy RDBMS and NoSQL systems to PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Design data models, indexing strategies, partitioning, and sharding for high-volume workloads.
  • Lead schema evolution, data transformation, and consistency validation during migrations.
  • Design and implement zero downtime / rolling migration strategies.
  • Evaluate and select migration tools, custom scripts, and replication-based approaches.
  • Define rollback, reconciliation, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Design data layers for microservices and distributed systems.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps/SRE teams on monitoring, alerting, backups, and recovery.
  • Experience with containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of consistency models, concurrency, and transaction semantics.
  • Act as architectural owner for data platforms and migration initiatives.
  • Mentor and technically guide senior engineers and database specialists.
  • Lead design reviews, incident postmortems, and performance tuning efforts.
  • Drive engineering best practices and coding standards.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.

Technical Expertise

PostgreSQL

  • Advanced expertise in query optimization, execution plans, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with logical/physical replication, failover, and HA setups.
  • Hands-on with partitioning, vacuum tuning, extensions, and connection pooling.
  • Managing large databases (multi TB scale).

MongoDB

  • Strong expertise in schema design, sharding strategies, and replica sets.
  • Experience migrating from relational models to document-based architectures.
  • Performance tuning and optimization for read/write intensive workloads.
  • Planning and executing online migrations and version upgrades.

Redis

  • Design and implementation of caching, session management, and messaging patterns.
  • Hands-on with persistence models (RDB/AOF), eviction policies, and memory optimization.
  • High availability and replication strategies.

Engineering & Platform

  • Design data layers for microservices and distributed systems.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps/SRE teams on monitoring, alerting, backups, and recovery.
  • Experience with containerized environments, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
  • Strong understanding of consistency models, concurrency, and transaction semantics.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Act as architectural owner for data platforms and migration initiatives.
  • Mentor and technically guide senior engineers and database specialists.
  • Lead design reviews, incident postmortems, and performance tuning efforts.
