Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator / Data Engineer to support database modernization and migration initiatives from on-premises environments to AWS cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL Server database administration, AWS data services, and data migration technologies, including Snowflake. The role will focus on supporting data platform modernization, assisting with database migration activities, developing Python-based data processing solutions, and building AWS-based data pipelines that support applications using Amazon RDS and DynamoDB. The candidate will also support SQL Server and cloud BAU operations, ensuring production stability, performance monitoring, and data reliability by developing operational metrics and dashboards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS and Snowflake environments.
- Design and implement AWS-based data pipelines using services such as S3, AWS Glue, and Lambda.
- Develop Python scripts for data creation, transformation, and bulk data loading.
- Build operational dashboards and performance metrics to monitor database performance.
- Support production database operations and performance tuning.
- Assist with data validation, migration testing, and post-migration support.
- Design logical and physical data models for applications and data platforms.
- Provide support to application teams using Amazon RDS and DynamoDB.
- Implement data management best practices on AWS.
- Support ETL processes and large dataset processing.
- Maintain version control and CI/CD workflows using GitHub and AWS CodePipeline.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Database Migration:
- 5+ years experience migrating databases from on-premises environments to AWS.
- Hands-on experience migrating SQL Server databases to AWS and Snowflake.
- Experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or similar migration tools.
AWS Data Services:
- Strong hands-on experience with: Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, Amazon S3, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Snowflake.
Data Engineering & Development:
- 5+ years experience with Python scripting for: Data creation, Data transformation, Data ingestion and bulk loads.
- Experience building AWS data pipelines.
- Strong experience supporting ETL workflows and large data processing.
Data Modeling:
- Experience designing logical and physical data models.
- Ability to support application schema design and database optimization.
Databases:
- Hands-on experience with: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake.
Data Platform & Governance:
- Experience implementing AWS data management services such as: AWS Glue Data Catalog, AWS DataZone, API Gateway.
DevOps & Version Control:
- Experience with GitHub.
- Familiarity with AWS Code Pipeline.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with large-scale data migration projects.
- Knowledge of Data Lake architectures.
- Experience supporting application data environments.
- Strong understanding of database performance monitoring and optimization.
Experience Required:
- 5+ years of experience in: Database Administration, Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience with AWS and Snowflake.
- Strong experience with SQL Server and AWS database services.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $90,000 – $140,000 per year (Estimated)
