Role: Analytics Platform Engineer (Contract) – Tableau Cloud / migration

This is a long-term contract role to support our migration from on-premise Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud and to strengthen our enterprise BI foundation. The contractor will be responsible for supporting technical migration execution, platform configuration, and implementing best practices. Secondary support will be provided across Power BI, Tableau Prep, Alteryx, and cloud data architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the end-to-end migration from on-premise Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud.
  • Configure and administer Tableau Cloud, including sites, projects, permissions, SSO, row-level security, and performance tuning.
  • Rationalize and clean up existing BI content; redesign key dashboards and data sources where necessary.
  • Implement and support data certification standards for dashboards and data sources.
  • Design and maintain data preparation flows using Tableau Prep and Alteryx, integrating with cloud data platforms.
  • Advise on and support Power BI cloud usage, including workspaces, datasets, security, and coexistence with Tableau.
  • Document patterns and runbooks, and coach internal teams to operate the platform post-engagement.

Required Experience:

  • Extensive enterprise Tableau experience, including significant work with Tableau Cloud or large Tableau Server environments.
  • Proven track record of successfully migrating from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud in a complex organization.
  • Strong Tableau Cloud administration and dashboard development skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Tableau Prep and Alteryx for production workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI Service and its coexistence with Tableau in a hybrid BI landscape.
  • Solid understanding of modern cloud data architecture principles.
  • Experience with data governance and certification processes for reports and data sources.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $60 – $85 per year (Estimated)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA
