Job Overview
WMATA is seeking an ETL Report Developer to support the Open Payment Project under the Digital Modernization initiative. The selected resource will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying ETL and reporting components required to support WMATA systems. The Open Payment Solution will allow Metro customers to pay fares using contactless payment methods such as bank cards, eliminating the need for SmarTrip cards. The system will support Metro rail, bus, parking services, and regional partner transit systems.
The developer will work with system architecture, requirements, and design documentation provided by the implementation vendor to build the required WMATA system components.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, automate, and maintain ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across enterprise reporting systems.
- Create logical and physical data flow models for ETL applications.
- Develop and support Business Intelligence (BI) reporting solutions.
- Perform data integration, migration, and data warehouse development.
- Import and process data from vendor cloud systems.
- Design and implement data models (conceptual, logical, and physical).
- Document application architecture using visualization tools such as Visio or Moqups.
- Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to coordinate software requirements.
- Plan and deploy complex custom applications and process improvements.
- Support system architecture from design through deployment.
- Assist with system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
- Complete WMATA security awareness training annually.
Required Skills & Experience
- Exceptional application architecture and software development skills (5+ Years)
- Experience with Microsoft Visio or other architecture visualization tools (5+ Years)
- Experience using MS Excel for software requirements documentation (5+ Years)
- Experience with enterprise application reporting (5+ Years)
- Experience coordinating software requirements with development teams (5+ Years)
- Experience planning and deploying complex custom web applications (5+ Years)
- Experience performing application architecture from concept to deployment (5+ Years)
- Experience using Visio and Moqups for documenting architecture relationships (5+ Years)

Education
Bachelors Degree in: Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, Communications, Finance, Or related discipline / equivalent experience.

Hybrid work model. Interview Type: Web Cam Only. Projected Start Date: March 30, 2026. Must complete WMATA security awareness training annually.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $90,000 – $130,000 per year (Estimated)
