About the Role

The Business System Analyst reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Leads analysis and solution definition. Understands the business issues and data challenges of the organization. Identifies organization’s strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement. Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution. Develops functional and non-functional specifications, uses cases and system design specifications for systems. Conducts effective joint application development and brainstorming sessions. Interviews and surveys subject matter experts and stakeholders together requirements. Understands the agile development and the universal modeling language.

In addition to the above, the Business Systems Analyst specializes in analyzing, designing and implementing information systems. Systems analysts assess the suitability of information systems in terms of their intended outcomes and liaise with end users, software vendors and programmers to achieve these outcomes. Plans system data flow from the ground up. Writes technical requirements from a critical phase, interacts with software architect to understand software limitations. Helps programmers during system development, e.g., providing use cases, flowcharts, UML and BPMN diagrams. Documents requirements or contributes to user manuals. Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems, of applicable programming languages, of computer hardware and software, of computer operating systems, of writing program code, and of automated mapping. Ability to analyze systems and procedures, to write and revise standards and procedures, to communicate effectively, and to train others. Identify, understand and plan for organizational and human impacts of planned systems, and ensure that new technical requirements are properly integrated with existing processes and skill sets.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ Years of experience in analysis and documentation of business and system interactions.
  • 7+ Years of experience in collaborating in designing integration interfaces between systems.
  • 7+ Years of experience in creating System Integration Documentation.
  • 7+ Years of experience in analyzing business applications and documenting work flows.
  • 7+ Years of experience in analyzing and documenting business processes.
  • 7+ Years of strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and effectively.
  • 7+ Years of experience in leading and participating in system and application walk-throughs.
  • 7+ Years of demonstrated experience in gathering business requirements and system design requirements.
  • 7+ Years of experience in UAT test planning, test case creation and test tracking, coordination, test results evaluation and End user training.
  • 2+ Years of experience in financial system upgrade/modernization.
  • 7+ Years of experience with Agile Methodologies (Kanban and Scrum) (Highly desired).
  • 2+ Years of working experience in Healthcare (Highly desired).

Additional Information

This role requires a Business System Analyst with a focus on creating/documenting process flows, business processes, and data classification. Candidates must understand and be comfortable with these specific tasks. While initial interviews may be virtual, the manager reserves the right to conduct an in-person interview. Qualified candidates local to Richmond will be prioritized. The work arrangement is primarily hybrid, with a preference for 2 days per week onsite. However, flexibility for remote work may be considered based on candidate experience and manager discretion, with 100% remote work not guaranteed.


Special Requirements

Visa: USC/GC. Interview: Onsite Interview. Must: Healthcare experience. Local candidates to Richmond preferred. Initial interview virtual, but manager may require in-person. Hybrid work arrangement (2 days/week onsite preferred), 100% remote not guaranteed. Candidate must be comfortable with creating/documenting process flows, business processes, and data classification. Candidate must physically reside within the US. Candidate must agree to pick up equipment in person if selected.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $60,000 – $100,000 per year

Location: Richmond, VA
