Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Oracle EPM Technical Application Consultant / SME to support and enhance Oracle EPM Cloud applications across our organization. This role is crucial for partnering with Finance, Accounting, and FP&A teams to design, build, optimize, and support scalable EPM solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on expertise in EPM Planning/EPBCS/Essbase, FCCS (and/or HFM and EDMCS/DRM/DRG), with a proven track record of designing effective planning processes and tuning calculation performance for optimal efficiency at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and enhance Oracle EPM Cloud solutions adhering to best practices and enterprise standards.
- Serve as an ongoing technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for production applications, handling break/fix issues and implementing small-to-medium enhancements.
- Design and implement robust planning processes within EPM Planning/EPBCS, including driver-based planning, forecasting, scenario modeling, approvals/workflows, forms, Smart View, and end-to-end cycle management.
- Develop and maintain calculation scripts, business rules, Groovy (where applicable), and Essbase artifacts.
- Perform performance tuning and optimization of rules to ensure fast execution and scalability, considering efficient calc design, block/aggregation strategy, data volume, rule sequencing, and avoiding common performance pitfalls.
- Build and maintain dimension builds, data loads, automations, and batch integration processes.
- Integrate GL and upstream finance data sources into EPM applications using Data Management and/or other integration patterns.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Strong experience with one or more of the following: EPBCS / Planning / Essbase, FCCS, HFM, EDMCS/DRM/DRG.
- Proven ability to design planning processes (beyond just rule building), including planning cycle design, business process alignment, and user experience considerations.
- Expert-level experience in building and maintaining: Business rules / calc scripts (with a focus on performance and runtime optimization), Data loads / Data Management, Metadata management (DRM hierarchies, mappings, workflows; DRG experience preferred), Automation scripts and batch orchestration.
- Strong scripting experience: Power and Batch (Python is a plus).
- Experience working directly with Finance, Accounting, and FP&A stakeholders in large enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience integrating GL data sources and implementing reliable reconciliation/validation controls.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate technical concepts to business partners.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a larger cross-functional team.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and delivering against project timelines.
Nice to Have:
- Python scripting for automations/integrations.
