This role requires a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in both Oracle and DB2 databases. The candidate must possess a strong foundation in core DBA principles and practices, coupled with extensive experience in managing complex data structures. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities are paramount, as is the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. A working knowledge of agile development methodologies is considered a significant advantage, as is familiarity with Java and Cobal programming languages. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully delivering projects with a focus on quality and defect prevention, ensuring zero defects in production environments.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, database installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management for both Oracle and DB2 systems. The DBA will be responsible for monitoring database health, identifying potential issues, and implementing proactive solutions to ensure optimal performance and availability. This role demands a thorough understanding of database architecture, data modeling, and SQL. Experience with data migration, replication, and high availability solutions is also highly desirable. The candidate should be adept at troubleshooting database-related problems and providing timely resolution.

Furthermore, the position requires a candidate who can work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. The ability to document database configurations, procedures, and best practices is essential. This is an onsite contract role located in Omaha, NE, with relocation assistance available. The client, UPRR, is seeking a candidate with a minimum of 10+ years of experience, and candidates born in 1994 or earlier are preferred. The interview process will involve two rounds of video interviews. The role is for a C2C contract with a duration of 6+ months.
