About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced AS400 Developer to join our team. This role involves analyzing and creating new programs, working with EDI platforms, and ensuring efficient database management on the iSeries. The ideal candidate will have excellent programming skills and a strong understanding of SQL and database concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and create new programs using RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE) on the iSeries platform.
- Work with the EDI platform on iSeries, including various transaction types (e.g., 810, 850, 820, 856).
- Analyze and modify complex SQL queries, embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE, and perform cursor programming.
- Create and analyze Physical files, Logical files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, and Stored procedures.
- Develop and maintain screen programming, including Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer files.
- Document business rules effectively and create data mapping documents.
- Analyze and create program modules, binding directories, and service programs (ILE Programming).
- Work with Message Queue (MQ), MQ Triggers, and embed XML tags in RPG Programs.
- Own project tasks completely based on communication with client analysts.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Excellent programming skills on the iSeries platform.
- Proficiency in RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
- Knowledge and hands-on experience working on an EDI platform on iSeries.
- Knowledge of various EDI transaction types (810, 850, 820, 856).
- Very good knowledge of SQL concepts.
- Strong understanding of database concepts (Physical files, Logical files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, Stored procedures).
- Good working knowledge in screen programming (Display Files, Subfiles, Printer files).
- Experience in ILE Programming (program modules, binding directories, service programs).
- Working knowledge of Message Queue (MQ) and MQ Triggers.
- Good communication skills.
Good to Have:
- Working knowledge in MDCMS and Turnover (code configuration management tool).
- Working knowledge in X-Analysis (cross-reference tool for iSeries).
- Knowledge of Triggers and Message Queuing for inter-program/inter-system communication.
- Experience with ROBOT job scheduler.
- Knowledge of normalized, denormalized tables, and Star Schema databases.
- Working knowledge on iSeries Navigator.
- Knowledge in the Retail Domain, especially in areas like Merchandising, Warehouse Management, and Distribution.
