Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer to join our engineering team in McLean, VA. This role is critical for supporting and modernizing our forecasting and financial systems. You will be tasked with backend engineering, core architecture design, and the migration of legacy platforms into a modern AWS cloud environment. This is a hybrid position requiring local candidates who can participate in onsite collaboration and face-to-face interviews.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance high-performance backend services using advanced Object-Oriented Python.
- Lead the replatforming and modernization of financial systems within the AWS ecosystem.
- Design and optimize complex database schemas and queries for SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architectural improvements and implement new features.
- Ensure system reliability and code quality through rigorous testing and refactoring.
- Manage large-scale datasets, ensuring data integrity and efficient processing for forecasting models.
- Participate in code reviews and provide technical mentorship to junior developers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend Python development within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong mastery of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) fundamentals and design patterns.
- Hands-on experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
- Proficiency in managing and querying SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science is highly preferred for candidates with approximately 5 years of experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of financial data systems.
Interview and Submission Process
Due to the sensitive nature of the financial systems involved, the interview process includes a Skype screening followed by a mandatory Face-to-Face (F2F) interview. Candidates must be local to the McLean, VA area. At the time of submission, candidates are required to provide a LinkedIn profile with a photo, a copy of their Driver’s License (DL), and valid Visa documentation for client verification. Compensation & Location
