Role Overview: Senior Performance Tester (15+ Years Experience)
Long Finch Technologies is seeking an exceptionally experienced Performance Tester for a critical onsite role in Weehawken, NJ. This position requires a seasoned professional with a minimum of 15 years of experience in performance engineering and testing. You will be responsible for ensuring that our software applications meet the highest standards of speed, stability, and scalability under various load conditions. This is a high-impact role that involves designing complex test strategies, executing sophisticated performance scenarios, and providing deep-dive analysis to optimize enterprise-level systems.
Key Responsibilities and Strategic Design
- Develop and implement comprehensive performance test plans and strategies aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.
- Design and script complex performance test scenarios using industry-standard tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or Locust.
- Execute various types of performance tests, including load, stress, endurance, spike, and scalability tests, to identify system breaking points.
- Analyze performance results to pinpoint bottlenecks, such as slow response times, high resource utilization, or database contention.
- Generate detailed performance reports and present findings to stakeholders, including developers, architects, and project managers.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to monitor system resources (CPU, Memory, Disk I/O) during test execution.
Technical Expertise and Tool Proficiency
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in performance testing tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or K6.
- Utilize scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or JavaScript to automate test processes and data preparation.
- Apply a deep understanding of web protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs) and microservices architectures to performance testing.
- Leverage advanced monitoring and APM tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or Splunk to gain insights into application performance.
- Troubleshoot complex performance issues by analyzing logs, thread dumps, and database execution plans.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in performance engineering to continuously improve testing methodologies.
Collaboration and Optimization
- Work closely with development teams to recommend specific code optimizations and architectural improvements based on test results.
- Participate in architectural review meetings to provide performance-related insights during the design phase.
- Mentor junior QA and performance testing staff, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
- Ensure that performance testing is integrated into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous performance validation.
- Maintain a high level of service stability and continuity by identifying and mitigating operational risks before production deployment.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in Performance Testing and Engineering is strictly required.
- Proven track record of managing performance testing for large-scale, distributed enterprise applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify root causes of performance degradation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical performance issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be able to work onsite in Weehawken, NJ.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $165,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
