Position Summary: Azure Cloud Engineer

National Indemnity Company is seeking a talented Azure Cloud Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team in Omaha, NE. This role is pivotal in maintaining, planning, and supporting our expanding Azure cloud compute, networking, and storage infrastructure. As a key technical contributor, you will partner with business units, IT Security, Software Development, and other infrastructure teams to ensure the secure delivery and upkeep of critical business initiatives. This position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring 2-3 days per week in our Omaha office, providing a perfect balance of flexibility and collaborative engagement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day cloud engineering tasks, including the provisioning and management of Azure hub-and-spoke networks, compute resources, and storage solutions.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Bicep and ARM Templates (JSON/CLI), to automate resource deployment and configuration.
  • Administrate identity and access management (IAM) within the Azure environment to maintain a secure and compliant infrastructure.
  • Support the integration of third-party tools into the Azure ecosystem, ensuring seamless interoperability and performance.
  • Build and maintain robust DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) to streamline application deployment and infrastructure updates.
  • Participate in technical architecture discussions with enterprise and domain architects to design modern, scalable cloud solutions.
  • Monitor the health and performance of both cloud and on-premises platforms, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Implement security policies and maintain proper security levels for all cloud-based applications and systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to empower digital transformation goals through expert resource orchestration.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior staff and project team members.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional work experience in cloud engineering.
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a strong preference for Bicep, ARM Templates, and Azure CLI.
  • Hands-on experience building and managing DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking, including VNETs, ExpressRoute, and Load Balancers.
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) and cloud security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuous learner mindset with a passion for staying current with evolving cloud technologies.

Additional Information

This is a 6-month Contract-to-Hire (C2H) position. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship. The role follows a hybrid model, requiring 50% of the work week to be spent in the office at our downtown Omaha headquarters. Compensation & Location

Salary: $125,000 – $170,000 per year (Estimated)
