Position Summary: Senior Talend & Databricks Developer (Healthcare)
We are looking for a seasoned Talend Developer with a deep specialization in healthcare data ecosystems to join our remote engineering team. This role is critical for building and maintaining the high-performance data pipelines that power our healthcare analytics and reporting. In the 2026 data landscape, the ability to integrate legacy healthcare formats with modern cloud-native architectures like Databricks is paramount. You will be responsible for the end-to-end ETL process, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with stringent healthcare regulations.
Technical Execution and Data Engineering
- Design and develop complex data integration jobs using Talend Data Integration and Data Mapper modules.
- Architect and manage robust data pipelines using Databricks notebooks, leveraging PySpark and SQL for high-scale processing.
- Handle diverse healthcare file formats, including X12 (EDI), JSON, XML, and flat files, ensuring seamless transformation into relational and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Implement and optimize a Data Lakehouse architecture using Databricks Delta Lake to support both structured and semi-structured data.
- Write custom transformations in Java or Python to handle complex business logic that exceeds standard Talend components.
- Monitor and tune Spark jobs to ensure maximum cost-efficiency and performance within the Databricks environment.
Healthcare Domain and Compliance
Recent experience in the healthcare sector is a non-negotiable requirement for this role. You must possess a thorough understanding of healthcare data standards and the sensitivity of Protected Health Information (PHI). Your work will directly impact clinical decision-making and business operations, requiring a high degree of accuracy. You will create optimized queries and notebooks that provide stakeholders with actionable insights, helping to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and secure data handling practices in a cloud environment is essential.
Remote Collaboration and Innovation
As a remote developer, you will be expected to maintain high levels of productivity and clear communication. You will participate in agile ceremonies, collaborate with data scientists to prepare datasets for AI/ML models, and work with business analysts to define data requirements.
