Role Overview
The PeopleSoft Solutions Architect is a critical leadership role within our enterprise HR systems modernization program. As the organization transitions to PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 (PUM 53) on PeopleTools 8.62.05, we require a senior technical authority to oversee the architectural integrity of the platform. This position is primarily remote but requires a high level of collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that business processes are seamlessly integrated with the system’s native capabilities. The architect will be responsible for the long-term technical roadmap, ensuring that every customization is scrutinized and every new feature is leveraged to its fullest potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert for PeopleSoft HCM 9.2, providing strategic guidance on platform upgrades and process transformations.
- Conduct comprehensive “Out-of-the-Box” vs. Customization analyses to identify opportunities for retiring legacy code and adopting new PUM features.
- Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) to translate complex HR requirements into scalable, high-performance technical designs.
- Define and enforce system design patterns that support global HR operations, ensuring alignment with the PeopleTools framework.
- Lead technical workshops and design sessions with HR functional leaders and IT delivery teams to resolve architectural gaps.
- Oversee the integration of PeopleSoft with third-party systems and internal automation tools using APIs and middleware.
- Provide hands-on support for critical system modifications and code reviews when necessary to ensure quality and performance.
- Manage the technical debt by identifying redundant processes and streamlining the PeopleSoft environment for future scalability.
- Advise on the implementation of PUM Image 53 features to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
Technical Environment and Requirements
The project environment is a cutting-edge PeopleSoft stack, specifically HCM 9.2 with PUM Image 53 and PeopleTools 8.62.05. Candidates must demonstrate at least 8 years of deep PeopleSoft experience, with a proven track record of leading enterprise-level upgrades. Expertise in PeopleTools 8.6x is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a background in HR domains such as Core HR, Payroll, and Benefits, particularly within the healthcare industry. Strong knowledge of integration technologies, including REST/SOAP APIs and Integration Broker, is highly preferred.
Strategic Impact and Collaboration
This role is not just about technical execution; it is about driving organizational change. By rationalizing customizations and leveraging the latest PeopleSoft innovations, the Solutions Architect will help reduce technical debt and improve the overall efficiency of the HR technology landscape. You will work closely with HR functional leaders to ensure the system supports the evolving needs of the workforce. This is a 6-month initial engagement with a high probability of extension as the transformation roadmap evolves. The architect must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively, ensuring buy-in for architectural decisions.

Candidates are expected to maintain the highest standards of technical documentation and code quality. Participation in regular sprint planning and retrospective meetings is required to ensure the project remains on track. The ability to mentor junior staff and provide clear, actionable feedback during code reviews is a key component of this role. We are looking for a visionary who can see beyond the immediate upgrade and help us build a sustainable, future-proof HR platform.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
