Role Overview: QA Test Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced QA Test Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity in Plano, Texas. This role is critical for ensuring the quality and reliability of our multi-tier web applications and micro-services. The ideal candidate will bring over 8 years of hands-on experience in the software quality field, with a strong background in automation and a proven track record of leading technical teams. This position requires an onsite presence and involves an in-person interview process.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Environment

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using a robust technical stack including Java, Groovy, Spock, Selenium, and TestNG.
  • Utilize Katalon and JavaScript for specialized testing scenarios and front-end validation.
  • Perform comprehensive API testing and contract testing using tools such as Pact, REST Assured, Wiremock, and Postman.
  • Manage and track defects through the full lifecycle using Jira, ensuring clear documentation and timely resolution.
  • Integrate testing processes into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Jenkins to support continuous delivery.
  • Execute complex database queries against Oracle and NoSQL databases to validate data integrity and backend processing.
  • Lead and manage a team of 2-4 test engineers, providing technical guidance, performing code reviews, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand multi-tier web application architecture and micro-service technologies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software quality engineering.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity within a QA environment.
  • Deep understanding of the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and various test cycles, including Unit, Regression, Functional, Systems, Performance, Volume, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform detailed requirements analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting features, bugs, and technical specifications.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently while also being a strong team player in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $115,000 – $155,000 per year (Estimated)
