Role Overview: Senior Java Support Engineer
Russell Tobin & Associates is looking for a dedicated and technically proficient Java Support Engineer for a 100% onsite role in San Jose, CA. This position is vital for maintaining the stability and performance of mission-critical Java applications within a high-stakes production environment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Core Java and SQL, combined with the analytical mindset required to perform root cause analysis on complex production issues. In the fast-paced tech landscape of 2026, this role demands immediate onsite presence to facilitate real-time collaboration and incident resolution.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide high-level application support for Java-based enterprise systems, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
- Perform detailed code walkthroughs and debugging of Java applications to identify and resolve production bugs.
- Utilize advanced SQL skills for data extraction, reporting, and database performance tuning.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of support tickets, ensuring all issues are resolved within strictly defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Lead incident management efforts, including initial triage, technical escalation, and clear communication with business stakeholders.
- Optimize existing SQL queries to improve the efficiency of operational reports and data analysis tasks.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to implement long-term fixes and prevent recurring incidents.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency support for critical system failures.
Technical Requirements and Skills
- 8-10 years of professional experience in Java application support and production engineering.
- Expertise in Core Java with the ability to read, understand, and debug complex codebases.
- Proficiency in SQL for complex data manipulation and reporting.
- Strong experience in incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems used in enterprise environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a 100% onsite environment in San Jose, CA.
- Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical issues and business impact.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year (Estimated)
