Role Overview: AWS Developer with Java J2EE & Cloud Migration

Valzo Soft Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AWS Developer to join our dynamic team in Quincy, MA. This role is critical for our client’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives, specifically focusing on the migration of legacy J2EE applications to a modern, cloud-native AWS architecture. As a Senior Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable, resilient, and secure applications using the latest AWS services and Java technologies. The role of an AWS Developer in 2026 requires a sophisticated blend of traditional software engineering and modern cloud-native expertise. In Quincy, MA, this position is at the forefront of a major cloud migration initiative. The transition from legacy J2EE environments to AWS is not merely a ‘lift and shift’ operation; it involves a deep refactoring of application logic to leverage the elasticity and scalability of the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the migration of complex J2EE applications from on-premise data centers to AWS cloud environments.
  • Design and implement microservices architectures using Spring Boot and Java.
  • Utilize core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and API Gateway to build robust cloud solutions.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment process using AWS CodePipeline or Jenkins.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders, to define technical requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure high availability in the cloud through auto-scaling and load balancing.
  • Implement security best practices within the AWS environment, including IAM roles, VPC security groups, and encryption at rest and in transit.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and application code.

Technical Requirements:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS core services and architecture (Compute, Storage, Database, Networking).
  • Strong proficiency in Java and J2EE development with a focus on modern design patterns.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Spring Boot framework for building microservices.
  • Proven track record of successful cloud migration projects, specifically moving monolithic apps to the cloud.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Scrum practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects that are shaping the future of our client’s technology landscape. Developers must be proficient in Java and Spring Boot to build microservices that can communicate seamlessly across a distributed system. The use of AWS Lambda for serverless computing, Amazon RDS for managed databases, and S3 for scalable storage are fundamental components of this architecture. Furthermore, the integration of CI/CD pipelines ensures that code is tested and deployed with high frequency and reliability. Security is another paramount concern, requiring the implementation of fine-grained access controls through AWS IAM. The developer will also be responsible for monitoring application health using CloudWatch and optimizing costs by selecting the appropriate instance types. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, as migrating legacy systems often uncovers unforeseen dependencies and performance bottlenecks. By working closely with architects and business analysts, the AWS Developer ensures that the technical solution aligns with the strategic goals of the organization, providing a robust platform for future innovation.
