Role Overview: Cypress & TypeScript Automation Engineer

We are looking for a seasoned Automation Engineer specializing in Cypress and TypeScript to join our engineering team in Denver, Colorado. This role is designed for a technical expert who can bridge the gap between manual testing and high-velocity automated delivery. You will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks that ensure the quality and reliability of complex, modern web applications. This position requires a deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and a commitment to continuous improvement in testing practices.

Core Responsibilities and Technical Execution

  • Design and implement scalable automated test scripts using TypeScript and Cypress, integrated with Cucumber for BDD (Behavior Driven Development).
  • Analyze manual test cases and functional requirements to determine the optimal balance of automation coverage, focusing on high-risk and high-value features.
  • Build and maintain front-end and back-end automation frameworks, ensuring they are resilient to UI changes and backend schema updates.
  • Perform in-depth log analysis using tools like Splunk to identify root causes of intermittent failures and performance regressions.
  • Collaborate with developers and product owners during defect triage to ensure bugs are well-documented with diagnostic information and resolved efficiently.
  • Define and track key quality metrics, including defect density, test execution velocity, and automation ROI, to provide visibility to stakeholders.
  • Identify and remediate ‘flaky’ tests to maintain a high level of trust in the automated CI/CD pipeline.

The Denver Tech Landscape and 2026 Standards

Denver has evolved into a premier tech destination, and our client is at the forefront of this growth. In 2026, the expectation for automation engineers has shifted from simple script writing to full-stack quality engineering. This role requires proficiency in querying database schemas and understanding complex microservices architectures. You will be expected to leverage modern test management tools like Qmetry and integrate your suites into advanced DevOps workflows. The ability to negotiate with stakeholders and advocate for quality-first development is essential for success in this high-complexity environment.

Professional Requirements

Candidates must have a strong foundation in Computer Science or Information Technology. We value critical thinkers who can approach testing from a user’s perspective while maintaining the technical rigor of a software engineer. Your experience should include extensive work with JavaScript/TypeScript and a proven track record of delivering automation solutions that significantly reduce manual regression efforts. This role is onsite in Denver, requiring a professional who thrives in a collaborative, face-to-face engineering culture.
