Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead BI & Analytics Engineer to spearhead our end-to-end Operations analytics initiatives. This is a critical leadership position within a construction-focused environment, requiring a professional who can navigate complex, real-world data landscapes. The successful candidate will take full ownership of Power BI dashboards, ensuring metric integrity and analytics reliability across the organization. This role is not merely about building new reports; it is about inheriting, stabilizing, and evolving existing business-critical analytics that are already in production. You will be the primary point of accountability for the accuracy and performance of our operational reporting suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Analytics Ownership: Manage the full lifecycle of analytics delivery, from initial requirements discovery and stakeholder clarification to data sourcing, modeling, and final deployment.
  • Dashboard Stabilization: Audit and refactor inherited Power BI dashboards to resolve data quality issues, improve DAX logic, and ensure consistent metric definitions across all reporting cycles.
  • Technical Leadership: Define and enforce organizational standards for KPI definitions, data model structures, and visualization best practices.
  • Data Modeling & Validation: Own the Power BI semantic layer, ensuring correct relationships and grain while validating outputs through rigorous SQL-based reconciliation against backend source systems.
  • Environment Governance: Manage Power BI workspaces, deployment pipelines, and row-level security (RLS) patterns to maintain a secure and performant analytics environment.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Act as the primary analytics partner for Operations leadership, translating ambiguous business questions into actionable technical solutions.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in BI and data engineering, with at least 8 years focused specifically on analytics delivery.
  • Deep expertise in Power BI development, including advanced DAX, data modeling, and workspace management.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data validation and complex querying.
  • Experience with Sigma Computing is highly preferred to support our evolving tech stack.
  • Familiarity with Azure-based data platforms such as ADLS, Databricks, and Synapse.
  • Proven track record of managing legacy analytics and transitioning them into production-grade assets.

Operational Context

This role requires a high degree of autonomy and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes messy operational environment. You must be comfortable pushing back on stakeholders when necessary to maintain data integrity and manage competing priorities. Given the nature of our operations, availability during Mountain Standard Time (MST) working hours is a mandatory requirement for this position. You will be expected to provide technical guidance to other BI contributors and raise the overall analytics maturity of the team through documentation and coaching.

Special Requirements

Visa: USC, GC Only. Interview: Virtual. Domain: Construction Background. Requirement: Sigma Computing. Hours: MST required.
