Role Overview
The State of Michigan is seeking two highly skilled Software Solution Architects to serve as Rhapsody Developers and Administrators. These critical roles support the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Health Services Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). The selected candidates will be responsible for designing and implementing methodologies to track message transmissions and provide essential integration services for systems connecting to the Data Hub. This position is integral to streamlining business processes, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining SEM/SUITE compliance across major health applications such as MDSS, EDRS, and MCIR.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop interfaces based on complex business requirements and technical specifications.
- Utilize the Rhapsody Developer Kit (RDK) to create custom filters and mappers to meet unique integration needs.
- Perform data format translations across various standards including HL7v2, HL7 V3, FHIR, CCDA, XML, JSON, and flat files.
- Develop and maintain API calls for SOAP, REST, and web services, ensuring secure and efficient data exchange.
- Implement transport encryption and security protocols, including TLS and mutual authorization via certificates.
- Write and optimize JavaScript code (v1 and v2) within Rhapsody filters to handle complex logic.
- Collaborate with cross-matrix teams from DTMB and MDHHS to support the Enterprise ISA technical team.
- Provide application oversight and guidance to business analysts and integration teams.
- Prepare comprehensive code review and SUITE SDLC documentation to ensure project transparency and compliance.
Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience with the latest Health Rhapsody Integration Engine (version 7.x).
- Proficiency in JavaScript programming, SQL, and XML.
- Deep understanding of healthcare messaging standards: HL7 version 2.x, HL7 FHIR, and CDA.
- Familiarity with healthcare vocabularies such as LOINC, SNOMED, and RxNorm.
- Experience with Health Information Exchange (HIE) technology and IHE integration profiles.
- Proven track record of implementing solutions based on official Implementation Guides.
- Strong background in database connections for MSSQL or Oracle environments.
Work Environment and Duration
This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to be in the office at least 2 days per week in Lansing, MI. There is no remote-only option available. The initial contract duration is approximately one year with a strong possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Lansing at their own expense if not currently local.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $175,000 – $215,000 per year (Estimated)
