Role Overview: QA Automation Architect
In the rapidly advancing landscape of 2026, Quality Assurance has transitioned into Quality Engineering, where automation is the foundation of every successful software release. We are looking for a QA Automation Architect in Berkeley Heights, NJ, to spearhead the design and implementation of next-generation testing frameworks. This role requires a strategic thinker who can integrate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into the testing lifecycle to drive efficiency and predictive quality. You will be the technical authority for all automation initiatives, ensuring that our testing strategies are scalable, resilient, and fully integrated into the DevOps pipeline.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Framework Architecture and Design: Architect and develop highly scalable automation frameworks from scratch using Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, and Java. You will focus on creating modular, reusable components that can be leveraged across multiple product lines.
- AI-Driven Testing Integration: Lead the adoption of Agentic AI and generative tools to automate the creation of test requirements, source code, and complex test scenarios. You will explore how AI can enhance defect prediction and root cause analysis.
- Continuous Testing and CI/CD: Enable and optimize Continuous Testing within the CI/CD pipeline. You will ensure that automated tests are executed at every stage of the development lifecycle, providing immediate feedback to engineering teams.
- API and Microservices Testing: Design comprehensive API testing strategies using RestAssured and Postman. You will ensure that microservices are thoroughly validated for performance, security, and contract compliance.
- Agile Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a technical lead within Agile teams, guiding developers and testers on best practices for BDD (Behavior Driven Development) using Cucumber. You will mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of quality across the organization.
- Performance and Scalability Testing: Oversee the integration of performance testing into the automation suite to ensure that applications can handle the demands of a modern user base.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in software testing with a heavy focus on automation architecture.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and deep experience with Selenium and Playwright.
- Strong knowledge of build tools like Maven and TestNG.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based testing platforms and containerized testing environments.
- Proven ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical test strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues in a distributed system.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)
