Role Overview
The Gen AI Architect will be a cornerstone of our enterprise-wide artificial intelligence transformation. This senior-level position requires a visionary leader capable of bridging the gap between complex technical AI frameworks and strategic business objectives. As the landscape of Generative AI evolves at a rapid pace, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the overarching solution architecture that will power our next generation of intelligent applications. This role is specifically based in McLean, VA, and requires a local presence to facilitate high-touch collaboration with our core engineering and product teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and lead the development of end-to-end Generative AI solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and high-performing.
- Define the long-term vision for AI programs, establishing enterprise-wide standards, best practices, and governance guidelines.
- Design and optimize Large Language Model (LLM) frameworks, including the integration of advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns.
- Implement and manage vector database strategies using technologies such as Pinecone, Milvus, or Weaviate to support semantic search and long-term AI memory.
- Lead the deployment of AI models across cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Champion Responsible AI initiatives, developing frameworks for bias detection, ethical AI usage, and data privacy compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify high-impact AI use cases and translate them into technical requirements.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior AI engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field, complemented by at least 8 to 10 years of professional experience in software architecture and AI development. You must demonstrate deep expertise in AI specialization, particularly with large language models and modern frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex. Experience with cloud-native deployments and the orchestration of complex AI pipelines is essential. We are looking for a professional who not only understands the ‘how’ of AI but also the ‘why,’ ensuring that every architectural decision contributes to the enterprise’s strategic goals. Strong communication skills are required to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. This position is a critical hire for our McLean office, and we are prioritizing local candidates who can contribute to our vibrant on-site culture.
