Role Overview
The Workday Integrations Manager position at the State of Rhode Island (DOA) is a critical technical leadership role within the ERP Support Team. This individual will be responsible for the strategic oversight and hands-on execution of the state’s integration landscape. The primary focus is ensuring that Workday remains the single source of truth while communicating effectively with legacy systems and third-party vendors. The manager will lead the design, development, and maintenance of integrations between Workday and other systems, ensuring efficient and accurate data exchange. This role involves deep technical expertise with Workday tools such as Workday Studio, EIBs, and Core Connectors. You will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting complex issues, and managing high-priority projects to meet evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of integration projects, from initial discovery and requirements gathering to testing, implementation, and post-deployment support.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Workday integrations, staying current with Workday updates and industry best practices.
- Work closely with HR, IT, Finance, and other business units to understand their needs and translate them into technical integration solutions.
- Monitor integration issues/errors and ensure data accuracy across all platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and escalate as appropriate to senior leadership or Workday support.
- Maintain data governance processes and standards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, quality, and security within the Workday Finance platform.
- Understand and ensure State security and data privacy standards are followed strictly.
- Apply advanced knowledge of Role-based and User-Based Security and Domains as it applies to Integrations security.
- Drive the development of integration strategy, best practices, and the overall Workday integration roadmap to support organizational goals.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with Workday EIBs, Core Connectors, and web services (REST/SOAP). Familiarity with Workday Studio is essential for handling complex logic. Technical skills should include strong knowledge of XML, XSLT, JSON, and potentially Python or JavaScript for custom integrations. From a business perspective, a deep understanding of Finance, HCM, and Payroll processes is required. The role requires experience gathering, developing, and validating development against business requirements to ensure it meets the business needs. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are necessary to work with various technical and functional stakeholders. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Workday Integration certification is preferred, along with 3-5 years of direct Workday experience.
Onsite Requirements and Environment
This is a strictly onsite role in Providence, Rhode Island. The State of Rhode Island DOA will not accept remote or hybrid arrangements. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate immediately. A valid Driver’s License is preferred for local travel between state offices if required. The Workday Integrations Manager will also be responsible for mentoring junior staff and ensuring that the ERP support team follows a standardized documentation process. This includes maintaining technical design documents (TDDs) and ensuring that all integration code is version-controlled and peer-reviewed. The manager will participate in steering committee meetings to provide updates on integration health and project timelines. Furthermore, the role involves managing relationships with external vendors whose systems interface with Workday, ensuring that any API changes or system upgrades are coordinated to prevent data outages. The State of Rhode Island is undergoing a significant digital transformation, and this role is at the heart of that effort, requiring a candidate who is both a technical expert and a strategic thinker.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
