Role Overview: MuleSoft Architect

As we move into 2026, the role of a MuleSoft Architect has become more critical than ever in bridging the gap between legacy systems and modern cloud-native ecosystems. ITBrainiac is seeking a highly skilled and visionary MuleSoft Architect for a long-term, 12+ month onsite engagement in the beautiful coastal regions of Juno Beach and Palm Beach, Florida. This role is designed for a technical leader who can navigate the complexities of enterprise-level integration while maintaining a focus on scalability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities and Strategic Impact

  • Architectural Leadership: You will be the primary architect for MuleSoft-based integration solutions, defining the blueprint for API-led connectivity across the organization. This involves not just technical design, but strategic alignment with business goals to ensure that every integration adds measurable value.
  • API Design and Lifecycle Management: Lead the design of high-performance APIs using RAML and OAS. You will oversee the entire lifecycle from initial design and mocking to deployment and retirement, ensuring that all APIs are reusable, discoverable, and well-documented.
  • Complex Integration Development: While this is an architectural role, you will maintain a high level of exposure to development. You will guide the team in implementing complex DataWeave transformations, handling intricate error strategies, and optimizing batch processing for high-volume data transfers.
  • Security and Compliance: In an era of increasing cyber threats, you will implement robust security measures including OAuth 2.0, custom policies in API Manager, and secure credential management using AWS Secrets Manager. You will ensure that all integrations comply with industry standards and internal security protocols.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders. You will translate complex technical requirements into actionable project plans and provide regular updates on architectural progress and risks.

Technical Requirements and Expertise

  • MuleSoft Mastery: A minimum of 5 to 10+ years of experience specifically in MuleSoft architecture. You should have a deep understanding of the Anypoint Platform, including Runtime Fabric, CloudHub, and On-Premise deployments.
  • Programming Proficiency: Strong coding skills in Java or Python are essential. You should be comfortable writing custom Java components or scripts to extend MuleSoft capabilities when necessary.
  • Connector Expertise: Proven experience working with a variety of enterprise connectors, specifically Salesforce, SAP, and various Database connectors. You should understand the nuances of these systems to ensure seamless data flow.
  • DevOps and Cloud Integration: Experience with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is required to manage hybrid integration scenarios.
  • Data Transformation: Expert-level knowledge of DataWeave 2.0 and experience handling various data formats including JSON, XML, and Flat Files.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: Possession of the Salesforce Certified Integration Architect or MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect / Integration Architect credentials is highly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Agile Methodology: Experience working in fast-paced, Agile environments with a focus on continuous delivery and iterative improvement.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues in real-time.
