Role Overview
DevRabbit IT Solutions is seeking a native AS/400 Technical Lead to join our high-performing engineering team. This is a crucial role that involves leading technical initiatives from initial concept design through to deployment and post-implementation support. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for creating and delivering mission-driven, highly scalable programs that support critical business operations. This position offers the flexibility of a remote or hybrid work arrangement, though alignment with our California-based team is essential. We are looking for a leader who is not only a master of the AS/400 environment but also a strategic thinker capable of driving quality and efficiency across the SDLC.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and CVS Technical Leads to clarify complex requirements and translate them into technical blueprints.
- Provide accurate effort estimations and lead the preparation, review, and approval of technical designs.
- Conduct deep-dive technical analysis to solve architectural challenges and optimize system performance.
- Manage change control activities using ALDON, ensuring all code promotions follow established governance protocols.
- Engineer high-quality code in RPGLE and CLLE, while overseeing the review and approval of code produced by the wider team.
- Prepare comprehensive Unit Test Plans and lead bug-fixing efforts during the unit testing phase.
- Promote projects to QA and Regression environments, ensuring all deployment plans are reviewed and administered correctly.
- Provide expert-level support during the post-implementation warranty period, addressing any production issues with urgency.
- Engage in continuous quality assurance and facilitate regression testing to maintain system integrity.
- Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.
Technical Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of 8 years of mandatory experience in AS/400 development. The top three essential skills for this role are RPGLE/CLLE, Synon, and Rxclaim. A deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and experience with mission-critical, scalable programs is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)
