Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Payment Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a critical 6+ month contract engagement in Charlotte, NC. This role is central to a major payment modernization initiative, requiring a leader who can bridge the gap between strategic planning and technical execution. The ideal candidate will possess deep domain expertise in global and domestic payment networks, including Wire transfers, Fedwire, CHIPS, and SWIFT. You will be responsible for leading complex business and technical analyses, ensuring that all system initiatives align with the latest regulatory, compliance, and operational standards. This position requires onsite presence in Charlotte, though relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Roadmap Development: Lead the strategic planning and development of roadmaps for payment modernization, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct complex analysis for payment system initiatives, focusing on the integration of Fedwire, CHIPS, and SWIFT networks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to define requirements, map processes, and design solutions that meet rigorous compliance standards.
- Workflow Optimization: Analyze and document current and future state workflows. You will identify gaps and recommend improvements for payment processing, settlement, and reconciliation.
- ISO 20022 Expertise: Serve as the primary SME for ISO 20022 payment message formats, including validation rules and exception handling protocols.
- Platform Rollout: Lead the rollout of new payment platforms and upgrades, managing migration planning, QA testing, and parallel/shadow runs to ensure zero disruption to operations.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise between technology, operations, and business units to resolve complex issues and ensure the seamless integration of new tools and processes.
- Documentation: Prepare and deliver comprehensive documentation, including business requirements (BRD), functional specifications (FRD), process maps, and training materials.
Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience as a Payment SME within the banking or financial services sector.
- Deep knowledge of payment modernization, specifically with Wire, Fedwire, CHIPS, and SWIFT.
- Expert-level understanding of ISO 20022 messaging standards.
- Proven track record in Agile SDLC environments.
- Strong ability to manage senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience in systems development, integration, and cutover planning.
- Excellent analytical skills for process mapping and gap analysis.
Additional Information
This role is an onsite position in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be prepared to work from the office. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
