Role Overview
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Full Stack Java Developer with specialized expertise in React to join our engineering team in Alpharetta, GA. This is a hybrid role that requires the candidate to be on-site three days per week, facilitating close collaboration with our product and support teams. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimization of critical enrollment systems that are essential to our business operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-visibility projects during the critical open enrollment season, ensuring that our systems remain stable and efficient for thousands of users. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java and the Spring Boot framework, ensuring high performance and scalability (60% of the role).
- Create responsive and intuitive user interfaces using React.js, focusing on delivering a seamless user experience (40% of the role).
- Architect and deploy scalable cloud-based solutions within an AWS environment, utilizing services such as EC2, S3, and Lambda.
- Manage and optimize SQL databases to ensure data integrity, security, and efficient query performance.
- Collaborate with the PSS (Practitioner Enrollments) and ESS (Employer Enrollments) teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Provide critical production support during the open enrollment season, identifying and resolving major issues that impact customer satisfaction.
- Handle high-priority Jira tickets related to production issues affecting 10 or more employees, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior team members to maintain high standards of code quality.
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with a strong portfolio of Java and React projects.
- In-depth knowledge of Java 11+ and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
- Proficiency in modern React development, including hooks, state management, and component-based architecture.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and deployment strategies.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during peak enrollment periods.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Project Details & Impact
The candidate will be integrated into two primary workstreams: Practitioner Enrollments (PSS) and Employer Enrollments (ESS). The ESS component is a large-scale function used directly by employees, requiring high availability and performance. The PSS component handles exceptions and missed timelines during the normal enrollment cycle. During the open enrollment season, the team acts as a critical response unit, addressing major production issues that impact customer satisfaction. This role is essential for maintaining the stability of the enrollment platform during its most active periods. Your work will directly impact the ability of thousands of employees to successfully enroll in their benefits programs, making this a mission-critical position within the organization.
Work Environment & Duration
This position is based in Alpharetta, GA, with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office. The initial contract runs through the end of the fiscal year (June 30th), with a high potential for extensions based on performance and project needs. We maintain a strict screening process to ensure the highest quality of candidates, including mandatory video screenings. Compensation & Location
