Located in Dallas, TX, this position requires a professional who is comfortable working 100% onsite to manage physical and logical network components. The successful candidate will ensure maximum uptime, security, and scalability for complex wide area networks (WAN) and local area networks (LAN). In this capacity, you will be the primary point of contact for high-level network escalations, requiring a deep understanding of how data flows through a modern enterprise ecosystem. You will be tasked with not only maintaining the status quo but also identifying opportunities for optimization and modernization within the data center fabric to support evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy enterprise-level routing and switching solutions to support high-traffic data center operations and ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Perform advanced network troubleshooting to resolve complex connectivity issues across large WAN and network environments, utilizing packet capture and analysis tools.
  • Manage and configure firewall policies across multiple platforms to ensure robust security perimeters and data integrity against external threats.
  • Implement and maintain load balancing solutions to optimize application delivery, resource utilization, and high availability for critical services.
  • Administer DNS and DHCP services to ensure seamless network addressing, name resolution, and IP address management (IPAM).
  • Utilize VXLAN and other network virtualization technologies to create scalable, flexible, and multi-tenant network overlays.
  • Configure and support VPN tunnels for secure remote access and site-to-site connectivity, ensuring encrypted data transmission.
  • Monitor network performance metrics and proactively address potential bottlenecks, hardware failures, or latency issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, including server and storage administrators, to integrate network services into the broader infrastructure.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures for compliance and knowledge sharing.

Technical Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Arista routing and switching hardware in a production data center environment.
  • Deep understanding of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols in a multi-homed, high-availability environment.
  • Proficiency in managing enterprise-grade firewalls such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco ASA, including the implementation of Zero Trust architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with F5 Big-IP or Citrix ADC load balancers, specifically focusing on L4-L7 traffic management and SSL offloading.
  • Strong knowledge of wireless networking standards and controller-based architectures to support mobile workforce requirements.
  • Familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and network automation tools like Python or Ansible to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Expertise in VXLAN, EVPN, and other modern data center fabric technologies that facilitate workload mobility.
  • Ability to perform deep packet analysis using tools like Wireshark to diagnose complex application-level network issues.

Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in network engineering with a specific focus on large-scale data center environments.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or JNCIP are highly preferred and considered a strong asset.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale network migrations, data center build-outs, or significant infrastructure upgrades.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strict uptime requirements.

Work Environment and Benefits

  • This is a 100% onsite position based in Dallas, Texas; candidates must be local or willing to relocate.
  • The initial contract duration is 6 months with a strong possibility of extension based on performance and project roadmap.
  • Competitive hourly rate of up to $55/hr based on experience and technical proficiency.
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge networking technologies in a massive, enterprise-grade infrastructure setting.
  • Collaborative team environment focused on innovation, security, and maintaining the highest standards of network reliability.
