Role Overview: L3 Support Technician Deskside
The L3 Support Technician Deskside role is a critical technical position focused on providing high-level infrastructure and operational support within a dynamic industrial environment. This position is unique as it involves direct interaction with logistics robots and automated systems. We are looking for Tier 2 or Tier 3 level professionals who possess a deep understanding of both hardware and software integration. This role is onsite and available in four key locations: Blue Springs, MS; Buffalo, WV; Huntsville, AL; and Troy, MO. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of technical assets that are vital to the plant’s logistics and production capabilities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage and maintain infrastructure operations, ensuring high availability of network and power systems.
- Provide advanced administration and user support for complex technical issues that exceed standard IT helpdesk capabilities.
- Coordinate with vendors and site leads to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and hardware.
- Oversee network, power, and cabling support to maintain the physical layer of the facility’s communication systems.
- Document all technical processes and ensure compliance with corporate and industry standards.
- Participate in project support initiatives, including the deployment of new logistics robotics and AMR technologies.
- Handle on-call responsibilities and provide rapid incident response to minimize downtime in production environments.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address potential bottlenecks or failures.
- Work specifically with logistics robots that operate via high-reliance Wi-Fi networks across the plant floor.
Technical Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong proficiency in operating systems, specifically Windows and Linux environments.
- Deep understanding of the OSI layer and TCP/IP protocols, with the ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues.
- Experience in network administration, including configuration and maintenance of switches, routers, and access points.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and their application in industrial settings.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly in high-pressure onsite environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with engineering teams.
- Experience with AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) technologies such as MIR, Autoguide, Omron, or OTTO is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform basic application troubleshooting and support for proprietary logistics software.
Interview Process and Preparation
The interview process consists of a one-hour virtual session. Candidates are strongly encouraged to prepare using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) method. The hiring team values specific examples of how you have handled technical challenges in the past. Be prepared to discuss your experience with on-prem server administration and your ability to support hardware that relies heavily on wireless network stability. This role requires a technician who is comfortable moving around a large facility to provide boots on the ground support for robotics and infrastructure.
Additional Information
Candidates from companies like Hartland Auto, JMP Solutions, or Samuel Automation are highly encouraged to apply, as their experience aligns well with the technical demands of this site. This role offers a competitive rate of $50/hr on a W2 basis. We are also open to visa transfers for qualified candidates. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional looking to transition into the burgeoning field of industrial robotics and automated logistics. The role is strictly onsite at one of the four designated locations, requiring a physical presence to manage the logistics robots effectively.
