Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and Azure-certified Senior SQL Server Developer to join our dynamic Data and Operations team in Dallas, TX. This is a critical 1-year contract position designed for a professional who excels in building scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions. As the landscape of data engineering evolves toward 2026, this role demands a deep understanding of both legacy SQL environments and modern cloud-native architectures. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving data-driven decision-making processes across the organization by leveraging the full power of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain sophisticated SQL Server and Azure SQL databases tailored to support both high-concurrency operational workloads and complex analytical reporting.
- Architect and manage robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) to seamlessly integrate data from a diverse array of internal and external sources.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and cross-functional engineers to translate business requirements into technical data specifications.
- Perform advanced optimization of T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies to ensure maximum performance and scalability.
- Uphold rigorous standards for data integrity, security, and compliance, ensuring all solutions meet internal governance and external regulatory requirements.
- Support enterprise-wide data governance initiatives and contribute actively to metadata management and data lineage documentation.
- Proactively monitor and troubleshoot complex data workflows to ensure the highest levels of reliability and accuracy in the production environment.
- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to junior developers and data analysts within the team.
Technical Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in SQL Server development and database design.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience specifically with Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning for large-scale datasets.
- Extensive experience with the full Microsoft BI stack, including SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
- Strong familiarity with modern data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas), and operational reporting.
- Proven experience utilizing Azure Blob Storage and Azure Key Vault for secure data handling.
- Knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tools to assist in the delivery of actionable insights.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and adopting DevOps practices within the Azure environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Certification and Compliance
Candidates must possess an active Microsoft Certification: Azure Solutions Architect Expert. A copy of this certification is required for submission. Additionally, this is a local-only onsite role in Dallas; candidates must provide a local Driver’s License or ID and a LinkedIn profile featuring a professional picture.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $85 – $110 per year (Estimated)
