Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Java Support Engineer for a critical onsite contract position in San Jose, CA. This role is dedicated to supporting high-availability applications for a major client (TCS). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in production support, with the ability to dive deep into Java code to identify and resolve complex technical issues. As a support engineer, you will be the first line of defense in maintaining system stability and ensuring that business operations continue without interruption in a fast-paced Silicon Valley environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Java application support, focusing on debugging and resolving production-level issues in real-time.
  • Utilize high-level proficiency in SQL for data extraction, operational reporting, and database troubleshooting.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA) through detailed Java code walkthroughs and log analysis.
  • Execute and optimize complex SQL queries to generate critical operational reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Manage and resolve incoming support tickets within strictly defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Actively participate in the incident management lifecycle, including triage, escalation, and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with development teams to suggest permanent fixes for recurring production bugs.
  • Monitor system health and performance metrics to proactively identify potential points of failure.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8 to 10 years of professional experience in IT, with a heavy focus on Java-based application support.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Core Java and the ability to read and interpret complex enterprise-level codebases.
  • Proven track record in production support environments, specifically handling incident management and triage.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write optimized queries for reporting and data validation.
  • Experience working within an SLA-driven environment where timely resolution is paramount.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to debugging.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with global teams.

Work Environment and Logistics

This is a 100% onsite role located in San Jose, CA. Due to the nature of the support requirements and the need for immediate collaboration, remote work is not available for this position. We are specifically looking for local candidates who can commute to the client site daily. The role is offered on a C2C basis at a competitive hourly rate.


Special Requirements

100% ONSITE; Local Candidates only; Client: TCS; Rate: $55-58/hr on C2C.
