Position Summary
Intellect Tech Solutions is looking for an experienced AS400 Synon Developer to support our enterprise clients in either Greater Dallas, TX or Greater Chicago, IL. This hybrid role requires a seasoned professional with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the IBM i environment, specifically utilizing Synon (CA 2E) for application development and maintenance. You will be responsible for the full software development life cycle, from initial requirement analysis to production support and modernization initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex business applications using Synon (CA 2E) on the AS400/IBM i platform.
- Analyze intricate business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions and system designs.
- Execute high-quality coding, unit testing, and debugging to ensure application stability and performance.
- Provide comprehensive production support, including troubleshooting critical system issues and resolving defects in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, and Operations, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to the establishment of development standards and best practices.
- Assist in legacy modernization or migration projects, helping to transition older systems to contemporary architectures where applicable.
- Document technical specifications, system workflows, and maintenance procedures for future reference.
- Maintain a deep understanding of RPG, CL, and DB2/400 technologies to support legacy enterprise applications.
Required Technical Expertise
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience with AS400/IBM i development. Expert-level proficiency in Synon (CA 2E) is mandatory. Familiarity with RPG (RPG IV/ILE), Control Language (CL), and DB2/400 database management is highly preferred. The role demands strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex legacy codebases. Excellent communication skills are vital for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders. This position requires a hybrid work schedule, necessitating a physical presence in our Dallas or Chicago offices.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 per year (Estimated)
