Senior .NET Developer Opportunity in Hartford, CT

The technology landscape in Hartford, Connecticut, is undergoing a significant transformation, particularly within the public sector and agency-level operations. We are currently seeking a Senior .NET Developer to spearhead a critical website rewrite initiative. This project is not merely a maintenance task but a comprehensive overhaul of multiple web portals that serve as the primary interface for various agency services. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of this modernization effort, ensuring that legacy ASPX pages are transitioned into a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly environment. This engagement is specifically designed for a high-level consultant who can commit to a consecutive timeline starting in March 2026 and running through the end of the second quarter of the year.

Project Scope and Technical Objectives

  • Website Rewrite & Modernization: You will be responsible for the end-to-end rewrite of existing web portals. This involves analyzing legacy codebases, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing modern .NET best practices to improve performance and scalability.
  • ASP.NET & ASPX Expertise: A deep understanding of ASP.NET and ASPX pages is essential. You will be working extensively with these technologies to maintain continuity while introducing modern enhancements.
  • Crystal Reports Migration: One of the key technical challenges of this role is the conversion or replacement of Crystal Reports. You will need to evaluate existing reporting structures and migrate them into modern, web-based ASPX reporting solutions that provide better data visualization and accessibility.
  • SQL Server Optimization: The project relies heavily on a robust SQL Server backend. You will be expected to design, optimize, and manage complex databases to support the multi-portal architecture.
  • Multi-Portal Integration: Managing the interplay between different web portals is a core requirement. You will ensure seamless data flow and a consistent user experience across all digital touchpoints.

Required Professional Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is a non-negotiable requirement for this position. This ensures a foundational understanding of algorithmic efficiency and software architecture.
  • Technical Proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate extensive hands-on experience with the .NET Framework, SQL Server, and ASP.NET.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to debug complex legacy systems and provide innovative solutions for modernization is critical.
  • Communication & Collaboration: As a senior developer, you will interact with various stakeholders. Clear communication and the ability to translate technical requirements into business value are essential.

The Hartford Market and Project Impact

Hartford is a hub for insurance and government services, making it a prime location for high-stakes IT projects. By participating in this website rewrite, you will be contributing to the digital infrastructure of the region. This project offers the chance to work on a high-visibility initiative that will have a lasting impact on how the agency interacts with its constituents. The short-term, high-intensity nature of this role makes it perfect for a seasoned professional who thrives in project-based environments and enjoys the challenge of legacy system modernization. We are looking for a developer who is not just a coder, but a solution architect capable of steering this project to a successful completion by June 2026. The project also involves a significant focus on security protocols, ensuring that the new web portals meet the stringent data protection standards required for agency-level applications. Developers will need to implement robust authentication and authorization mechanisms. Furthermore, the transition from Crystal Reports to ASPX-based reporting will require a deep dive into data visualization techniques to ensure that end-users can easily interpret complex datasets. This role is a perfect fit for a developer who enjoys the intricacies of full-stack development within a structured, professional environment.
