The Data Analytics Engineer position in Stamford, Connecticut, represents a pivotal opportunity within a leading financial services organization. This hybrid role is designed for a seasoned professional with over 8 years of experience who can bridge the gap between raw data engineering and actionable business intelligence. As the firm continues to evolve its data strategy for 2026, this engineer will be responsible for building the robust data foundations that drive high-stakes decision-making across the entire enterprise. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of technology and finance, ensuring that data is not just collected, but transformed into a strategic asset for the firm’s growth and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and standardize key performance indicators (KPIs), data definitions, and reporting logic to ensure a single source of truth across the organization.
  • Identify critical data gaps within existing systems and proactively recommend process improvements to enhance data quality and accessibility.
  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest information from a diverse array of internal and external systems, including market data feeds and internal transaction logs.
  • Design and maintain sophisticated analytical layers and comprehensive documentation to support self-service analytics for business stakeholders.
  • Develop and operate complex ETL/ELT workflows, implementing rigorous validation checks to ensure data integrity and reliability in a high-compliance environment.

Technical Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics, or a related field, preferably within the financial sector.
  • Advanced proficiency with modern Data Warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift) and designing optimized datasets for complex analytics.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and extensive experience working with various relational database management systems (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining production-grade ETL/ELT workflows using tools like dbt, Airflow, or Informatica.
  • Hands-on experience integrating data from third-party sources via RESTful and GraphQL APIs, specifically handling JSON and XML payloads.
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling dashboards and data visualizations using platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to tell a story with data.
  • Familiarity with cryptocurrency markets and the ability to perform on-chain analytics is highly desirable for this financial services context.
  • Experience with metric layers, semantic models, and maintaining high standards of technical documentation using tools like Confluence or Git.
  • Practical fluency in AI and Machine Learning concepts, with a strong habit of validating AI-generated outputs and models for accuracy.

Strategic Impact and Collaboration

In this role, you will not just be a technical executor but a strategic partner. You will engage with senior leadership to understand the firm’s long-term goals and align data initiatives accordingly. By standardizing metrics and improving data transparency, you will directly influence the firm’s ability to manage risk and identify new market opportunities. You will also mentor junior analysts and engineers, fostering a culture of data excellence and continuous learning. Your work will ensure that the organization remains competitive in an increasingly data-driven financial landscape.
