Role Summary
Prophecy Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior MSSQL Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team in Minneapolis, MN. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our enterprise-level database systems. As a Senior DBA, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our Microsoft SQL Server environments, which constitute approximately 70% of our database landscape. Additionally, you will provide critical support for our Oracle (20%) and PostgreSQL (10%) instances, making this a unique opportunity for a multi-platform database professional to showcase their expertise in a diverse technological ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Installation and Configuration: Lead the installation, configuration, and upgrading of Microsoft SQL Server versions 2016, 2019, and 2022. You will be responsible for deploying SQL Server on both Windows and Linux platforms, ensuring optimal setup for development, QA, and production environments.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement robust High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions. This includes configuring and maintaining Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, database mirroring, and log shipping to ensure zero data loss and minimal downtime.
- Cloud Integration: Manage and optimize Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. You will play a key role in our ongoing cloud migration and hybrid-cloud strategy.
- Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks. You will perform deep-dive analysis of execution plans, optimize T-SQL queries, and implement advanced indexing strategies to ensure peak performance across all database platforms.
- Multi-Platform Support: Provide administrative support for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases. This includes monitoring health, managing user access, and assisting with data migration and integration tasks between different database engines.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain rigorous database security protocols. You will be responsible for managing permissions, auditing database activity, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal security policies.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell and T-SQL scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, such as backups, index maintenance, and health checks, increasing operational efficiency.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in professional Database Administration with a primary focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
- Expert-level knowledge of SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 and the underlying Windows/Linux operating systems.
- Proven experience with Azure cloud database services and migration tools.
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Database and PostgreSQL administration is highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of database internals, storage systems, and networking concepts.

Salary: $145,000 – $190,000 per year (Estimated)
