Role Overview

The Enterprise Architecture (EA) Tool Consultant is a high-impact role dedicated to the implementation, configuration, and strategic optimization of the Ardoq platform. As organizations in 2026 move toward “Architecture-as-Code” and data-driven decision-making, the EA tool becomes the central nervous system for understanding complex dependencies between business capabilities, applications, and technology infrastructure. This consultant will be responsible for ensuring that Ardoq is not just a repository of diagrams, but a dynamic, living model that provides actionable insights to C-suite executives and technical leads alike. The role requires a unique combination of architectural vision, data modeling expertise, and technical integration skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end deployment and customization of the Ardoq platform, ensuring it meets the specific needs of a large-scale enterprise.
  • Design, implement, and maintain sophisticated EA metamodels and taxonomies that accurately reflect the organization’s unique business and IT landscape.
  • Collaborate closely with Enterprise, Solution, and Business Architects to capture architectural requirements and translate them into effective tool configurations and data structures.
  • Develop and maintain high-level dashboards, heatmaps, and visualizations that provide clarity on portfolio health, technical debt, and strategic alignment.
  • Facilitate the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Technical Review Board (TRB) processes by ensuring that all architectural data is current, accurate, and presented in a consumable format.
  • Engineer robust integrations between Ardoq and other critical systems, including CMDBs (ServiceNow), project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps), and PPM platforms via REST APIs and automated data pipelines.
  • Define and implement governance frameworks for EA tool usage, ensuring data integrity and consistency across all architectural artifacts.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and mentor, providing training sessions and creating comprehensive documentation to empower the broader architect community.
  • Monitor and manage the quality of data within the EA repository, implementing automated checks and lifecycle management processes to prevent data rot.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced Ardoq features, such as Surveys and Broadcasts, to crowdsource architectural data from stakeholders across the company.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the EA practice by identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance the maturity of architectural modeling.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 5-8 years of professional experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or a specialized role focused on EA tooling and governance.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Ardoq is a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • A solid foundation in industry-standard EA frameworks, specifically TOGAF and ArchiMate, is essential for designing effective metamodels.
  • Demonstrated experience in capability-based planning and the creation of complex architectural viewpoints.
  • Strong technical skills in data modeling, JSON, and working with RESTful APIs for system integration.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and data consistency.
  • Superior communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.

Education and Certifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. Professional certifications such as TOGAF 9.2/10, Ardoq Certified Professional, or SAFe Architect are highly desirable. Additional certifications in ITIL, COBIT, or major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) will be viewed favorably. Experience working within highly regulated industries, such as healthcare, finance, or government, is a significant advantage due to the complex compliance and governance requirements inherent in those sectors.

Special Requirements

Contract role; Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or government is a plus.
