Role Overview
VBeyond Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Network Engineer to join our client’s technical team in Richmond, VA. This is a senior-level leadership position requiring a deep understanding of enterprise networking, telecommunications, and cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end network lifecycle, from procurement and documentation to proactive monitoring and advanced troubleshooting. As a Lead Engineer, you will act as a subject matter expert in routing, switching, and security, ensuring that the network backbone remains resilient, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all Telecommunications, Network, and Internet activities to ensure 99.9% uptime and exceed customer SLA expectations.
- Utilize advanced network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve potential bottlenecks or outages before they impact the business.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including detailed network diagrams using Visio or similar industry-standard tools.
- Oversee the telecom equipment and service procurement process, managing software licenses and hardware inventories.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and supply chain partners to ensure project implementation and support meet organizational standards.
- Analyze network traffic types and bandwidth usage to ensure proper sizing of backbone connections and optimize performance.
- Administer and support SDWAN infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity across geographically dispersed locations.
- Configure and maintain VPN tunnels (GRE/IPSEC) and cloud networking components with a specific focus on Microsoft Azure environments.
- Lead the implementation of Network Access Control (NAC) tools such as Cisco ISE or PortNox to enhance perimeter and internal security.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to Telecom or network operations.
- Extensive experience supporting Cisco Switching and Routing, Meraki Wireless solutions, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Proven expertise in SDWAN administration, configuration, and ongoing support.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/LINUX environments and the ability to utilize scripting for network automation.
- Experience with Citrix or similar technologies in a decentralized, high-growth environment.
- Deep understanding of routing protocols and network security best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology.
- Applicable Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCIP, or CCIE are highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- A forward-thinking mindset with a strong motivation for continuous improvement and automation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across various IT departments and business units.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
