Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Developer to join our technical team in Wilmington, Delaware. This is a critical role requiring a deep understanding of legacy systems and their integration with modern enterprise environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex mainframe applications that support our client’s core business operations. This position requires a full-time onsite presence (5 days a week) in Wilmington, DE, making it ideal for local candidates or those willing to relocate to this thriving financial and corporate hub.
Technical Requirements and Responsibilities
The core of this role revolves around the IBM z/OS environment. You will be expected to demonstrate mastery over COBOL, which remains the backbone of many large-scale financial systems. Your expertise in CICS (Customer Information Control System) will be vital for managing high-volume online transaction processing. Furthermore, a profound knowledge of IMS (Information Management System), specifically both IMS/DB for hierarchical database management and IMS/DC for data communications, is mandatory. You will be tasked with writing and optimizing JCL (Job Control Language) scripts to ensure efficient batch processing and system resource management.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Mainframe application development.
- Expert-level proficiency in COBOL programming and z/OS operating systems.
- Extensive hands-on experience with IMS/DB, IMS/DC, and CICS.
- Strong capability in writing, debugging, and maintaining complex JCL.
- Solid understanding of mainframe system administration, including data set management and security protocols.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address performance bottlenecks in legacy code.
