Role Overview: Mainframe IMS and CICS Specialist

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe Developer specializing in IMS and CICS for a critical onsite position in Wilmington, Delaware. This role is situated within a high-stakes banking environment, where reliability, performance, and security are paramount. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimization of core banking systems that handle millions of transactions daily. In the landscape of 2026, the mainframe remains the backbone of global financial infrastructure, and your expertise will ensure these systems continue to evolve with modern demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex mainframe applications using IBM-Z/OS COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
  • Manage and optimize data storage and retrieval using VSAM and DB2, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Utilize IBM MQ for robust message queuing and asynchronous communication between distributed systems.
  • Develop and maintain JCL (Job Control Language) for batch processing and job scheduling via CA7.
  • Perform version control and release management using Changeman.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner, utilizing IBM Mainframe Utilities for debugging and system analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and ensure application resiliency and security standards are met.

Required Technical Skills

  • Extensive experience with IBM-Z/OS COBOL and CICS.
  • Strong proficiency in DB2 and SQL for mainframe environments.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM MQ and VSAM.
  • Proficiency in JCL, CA7, and Changeman.
  • Familiarity with IBM Mainframe Utilities and debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of IMS (Information Management System) is highly desirable.

Professional Qualifications

  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining code in a large-scale corporate environment.
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex system issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for building an innovative culture.
  • Experience in the Banking and Cards domain is a significant advantage.

Compensation & Location
