Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Network Engineer to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. This is a critical role focused on the implementation, deployment, and maintenance of high-capacity optical transport networks. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in Ciena or ADVA networking equipment and have a proven track record of managing complex network migrations in a data center environment. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of our optical infrastructure, serving as a primary point of contact for advanced technical escalations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end deployment, commissioning, and rigorous testing of Ciena optical and packet networking equipment, specifically the 6500, 5400, and 8700 series.
- Manage ADVA FSP 3000, 150, and 3000C platforms, ensuring optimal performance and integration within the existing network fabric.
- Execute complex, in-service network upgrades and migrations, maintaining zero-impact to end-user traffic through meticulous planning and execution.
- Configure and manage advanced Network Management Systems (NMS) to monitor health and performance metrics.
- Support the design and optimization of optical transport networks utilizing DWDM and CWDM technologies.
- Act as a senior escalation point for field engineers and customers, providing expert-level troubleshooting for complex connectivity and hardware issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project timelines are met and technical documentation is accurately maintained.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in telecommunications or data center network engineering.
- Deep understanding of Optical Transport Networking (OTN), DWDM, SONET/SDH, and Ethernet protocols.
- Hands-on experience with Ciena Site Manager and Metro Field Tech scenarios.
- Advanced knowledge of Layer 3 Routing and Switching, with a strong preference for candidates holding CCNP or CCIE certifications.
- Expertise in BGP and OSPF routing protocols is mandatory.
- Familiarity with SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 protocols for network synchronization.
- Proficiency in Linux environments and scripting languages such as Python or SQL for automation and data analysis.

Contract duration. Requires deep experience with Ciena 6500 and Site Manager.
Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)
