Role Overview: Senior Oracle Database Administrator
Vizon Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join a premier financial services environment in New York City. This is a critical hybrid role requiring 10 days per month on-site presence. The ideal candidate will be a local resident or live within a 30-45 minute commuting distance of NYC. As a Senior DBA, you will be the backbone of our data infrastructure, ensuring the resiliency, uptime, and high availability of complex Oracle ecosystems. This position demands a service-oriented professional with a high sense of ownership and the technical prowess to manage legacy AIX systems alongside modern Exadata and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) deployments.
Key Responsibilities and Technical Duties
- Comprehensive administration of the firm’s Oracle database environment, supporting versions from 11g through 19c and beyond.
- Configure, maintain, upgrade, and patch database environments to ensure maximum security and performance.
- Monitor system health proactively, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve bottlenecks before they impact production.
- Manage Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Storage, including extensive work with Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
- Implement and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions using Oracle RAC and DataGuard.
- Automate routine DBA tasks through shell scripting (Unix/Linux) and PL/SQL to increase operational efficiency.
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation to provide mission-critical support for production environments.
- Collaborate with software development teams to facilitate production releases and optimize database design for application performance.
- Maintain rigorous data integrity and security standards in compliance with industry regulations.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise-scale environments.
- Deep technical expertise in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and various operating systems including AIX, Linux, and Windows.
- Proven track record of managing the full project life cycle, from initial database design to decommissioning.
- Expert-level proficiency in developing complex database scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, and Unix shell scripting.
- Experience with Exadata and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is highly preferred.
- Secondary experience with other DBMS platforms such as PostgreSQL or Sybase is a significant advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced corporate setting.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $155,000 – $198,000 per year (Estimated)
