Role Overview: SAP FICO Consultant for Divestiture and Separation

Our direct client is seeking a highly specialized SAP FICO Consultant to lead functional support for a critical divestiture project involving their Canada platform. This role is pivotal in ensuring a successful business separation, focusing on accurate financial configuration, statutory compliance, and seamless data separation. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SAP FI and CO modules, specifically within the context of corporate divestitures, mergers, or acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Lead comprehensive finance requirements gathering sessions for the Canada platform. Analyze current-state finance processes impacted by the separation and document Canadian statutory, tax, and reporting requirements. Identify and bridge gaps between current and target-state FICO processes while validating requirements with Finance, IT, and separation stakeholders.
  • Separation Support: Support company code and organizational structure separation activities. Define and validate company code setup, dependencies, and Chart of Accounts mapping. Manage intercompany and cross-company transaction flows.
  • Financial Data Separation: Oversee the separation of General Ledger balances, Accounts Receivable/Payable open items, and Asset Accounting data. Assist with financial cutover planning and validation to ensure business continuity.
  • SAP FICO Configuration & Design: Configure and support SAP FICO modules including GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, and Controlling (Cost Centers, Profit Centers, Internal Orders). Ensure specific Canada tax configurations (GST, HST, PST, QST) are accurately implemented.
  • Integration Support: Coordinate with SD, MM, Supply Chain, and Tax teams to ensure end-to-end process integrity. Validate FICO integration points across Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay cycles.
  • Testing & Validation: Develop and execute unit and integration testing. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validate financial postings, tax calculations, and reporting outputs.
  • Cutover & Hypercare: Support cutover planning and execution for the Canada platform. Validate opening balances and financial integrity post-migration. Provide go-live and hypercare support to ensure operational stability.

Professional Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate a strong background in SAP FICO with a minimum of 8-10 years of functional experience. Prior experience in a divestiture or separation project is mandatory. The consultant must be proficient in Canadian financial regulations and tax requirements. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with PMO expectations and cross-functional stakeholders. This position is ideally based in Central New Jersey on a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite), though exceptional remote candidates will be considered.


Special Requirements

Prior divestiture experience is mandatory. Hybrid onsite (3 days/week) in Central NJ preferred; remote options available for highly qualified candidates.


Compensation & Location

Salary: $145,000 – $195,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Central New Jersey, NJ
