Role Overview
Themesoft is looking for an experienced Windows Systems Engineer for an immediate contract hire in Sunnyvale, CA. This role is critical for maintaining the stability and security of our client’s Windows Server infrastructure. In the fast-paced tech environment of 2026, the ability to manage hybrid environments and automate infrastructure-as-code is essential. You will be tasked with the full lifecycle management of server environments, from initial deployment and patching to performance tuning and eventual decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Server Lifecycle Management: Perform operational support, including patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring for Windows Server environments.
- Core Infrastructure Services: Manage and optimize enterprise services such as DNS, DHCP, DFS, and Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
- Automation: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine infrastructure tasks, reducing manual intervention and human error.
- On-Call Support: Participate in a global on-call rotation to ensure high availability and rapid response to critical system incidents.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with teams managing Mac and Linux systems to ensure seamless integration across a heterogeneous environment.
- Compliance and Auditing: Support rigorous audit requirements, including documentation and remediation for PCI, SOX, and other regulatory standards.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years specifically managing Windows Server infrastructure.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Proficiency in managing multiple versions of Windows Server operating systems.
- Solid experience with enterprise-level DNS and DHCP administration.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible is highly preferred.
- Ability to document operational procedures in alignment with ITIL frameworks.
Project Details
This is a contract position offering competitive hourly rates ($60/hr C2C or $50/hr W2). The successful candidate will join a global support model, requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with remote teams. Compensation & Location
Salary: $104,000 – $124,800 per year
