Role Overview
Softcom Systems is seeking a highly experienced Senior Unix Developer with a strong background in Oracle databases for a critical onsite role in Weehawken, NJ. This position requires a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in Unix scripting and database development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex Unix-based applications and optimizing Oracle SQL/PLSQL queries to ensure high performance and reliability. You will work closely with the infrastructure and database teams to deliver scalable solutions that meet the rigorous demands of our financial services clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust Unix shell scripts (Korn, Bash, or C-shell) to automate system tasks and data processing workflows.
- Design and implement complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL procedures, functions, and triggers to support business logic.
- Perform performance tuning of SQL queries and Unix scripts to handle large datasets efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to Unix environments and Oracle databases.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices for software development.
- Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.
- Manage database objects and ensure data integrity across various environments.
- Optimize existing legacy scripts to improve execution time and resource utilization.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Unix Scripting and Oracle development.
- Expertise in Unix/Linux environments and command-line utilities.
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programming.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Weehawken, NJ, 5 days a week.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with version control systems like Git or SVN.
- Knowledge of scheduling tools like Autosys or Cron.
- Familiarity with financial services domain is a plus.
- Understanding of SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.

Salary: $145,000 – $185,000 per year (Estimated)
