Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Product Owner / Scrum Master to join our dynamic retail technology team in Cincinnati, OH. This dual-function role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between business objectives and technical execution. As a Senior Product Owner, you will be responsible for defining the product vision, managing the product backlog, and ensuring that the development team delivers high-value features that align with our retail and advertising goals. Simultaneously, as a Scrum Master, you will facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the squad. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the software development life cycle and a passion for delivering user-centric solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for retail-focused software solutions, from initial concept and requirements gathering to deployment and post-launch optimization.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, marketing teams, and the engineering department to ensure clear communication of product goals and timelines.
- Develop and maintain a prioritized product backlog, ensuring that user stories are well-defined, estimated, and ready for development with clear acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring they are productive and time-boxed.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of product features and inform future roadmap decisions based on data.
- Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead to translate complex technical requirements into actionable user stories that the development team can execute efficiently.
- Manage cross-team dependencies and proactively identify risks that could impact delivery timelines, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Promote Agile best practices and mentor junior team members on Scrum principles and product management techniques to improve team velocity.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis within the retail and advertising domains to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
- Ensure that the final product meets the highest standards of quality and provides a seamless user experience for both internal and external customers.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Business Analysis and Product Ownership, specifically within an Agile software development environment.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software products in a fast-paced corporate setting, preferably within the retail sector.
- Deep expertise in Scrum and Agile methodologies, with a strong understanding of how to scale these practices in large, matrixed organizations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and strategic prioritization.
- Experience using Agile management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps to manage backlogs, track progress, and report on sprint health.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Skills and Domain Knowledge
- Prior experience in the Retail industry, particularly in areas such as e-commerce, supply chain management, or point-of-sale systems.
- Knowledge of the Advertising technology (AdTech) landscape, including digital marketing platforms and customer data analytics.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) are highly desirable.
- Experience working with distributed or remote teams across different time zones and cultural backgrounds.
