Role Overview

The Digital Asset Management (DAM) Specialist is a pivotal role within our technology and marketing operations, responsible for the strategic management, organization, and distribution of our organization’s digital assets. As we move into 2026, the volume of digital content—ranging from high-resolution video and 3D models to interactive marketing collateral—has grown exponentially. This role ensures that our assets are not only stored securely but are also easily discoverable, properly licensed, and utilized effectively across all global channels. You will be the primary architect of our DAM ecosystem, bridging the gap between creative production and technical implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration & Governance: Oversee the daily operations of the DAM platform, ensuring system stability, performance, and security. Establish and enforce governance policies regarding asset lifecycle management, from ingestion to archival.
  • Metadata & Taxonomy Development: Design and maintain a robust metadata schema and hierarchical taxonomy that reflects the evolving needs of the business. Implement automated tagging solutions using AI and machine learning to improve searchability and reduce manual entry.
  • Workflow Optimization: Collaborate with creative directors, photographers, and marketing managers to map out and optimize asset production workflows. Integrate the DAM with other enterprise systems such as CMS, PIM, and ERP to ensure a seamless flow of data.
  • Stakeholder Management & Training: Act as the subject matter expert for all DAM-related inquiries. Develop comprehensive training materials and conduct workshops for internal teams and external agency partners to drive platform adoption and ensure best practices.
  • Rights Management: Manage digital rights and usage permissions for all assets. Ensure that expiration dates are tracked and that the organization remains compliant with licensing agreements to mitigate legal risks.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Monitor system usage and asset performance metrics. Provide regular reports to leadership on DAM ROI, identifying trends and areas for further investment or process improvement.
  • Technical Support: Troubleshoot technical issues within the DAM environment and coordinate with software vendors for upgrades, patches, and feature requests.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience managing industry-leading DAM software (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Bynder, Widen, or similar).
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale DAM implementations or migrations.
  • Strong understanding of digital file formats, codecs, and color spaces across video, image, and document types.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in an Agile environment and familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Asana.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Library Science, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $110,000 – $155,000 per year (Estimated)

Location: Austin, TX
