Role Overview
The Mainframe Application Developer position in Wilmington, DE, is a high-impact role designed for a seasoned professional with over 8 years of experience in legacy systems and modern mainframe integration. This onsite position requires a deep technical understanding of the IBM Z/OS environment and the ability to navigate complex financial services architectures. Technical Requirements
- Expert-level proficiency in IBM-Z/OS COBOL for developing high-performance batch and online applications.
- Extensive experience with CICS (Customer Information Control System) for managing online transaction processing and system communication.
- Advanced knowledge of DB2 for relational database design, optimization, and complex SQL querying within a mainframe context.
- Hands-on experience with IBM MQ for reliable asynchronous messaging and cross-platform system integration.
- Deep understanding of VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) file structures and JCL (Job Control Language) for batch job execution.
- Proficiency in CA7 for automated job scheduling and Changeman for comprehensive software change management and version control.
- Familiarity with IBM Mainframe Utilities for system maintenance, data manipulation, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical mainframe applications that support core banking and credit card processing functions.
- Perform rigorous analytical debugging and troubleshooting to resolve complex application issues in a high-pressure corporate environment.
- Lead the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring that all code meets strict security and resiliency standards.
- Implement and advocate for Agile methodologies, including the integration of CI/CD pipelines where applicable to modernize mainframe workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects and business analysts, to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Ensure application scalability and performance to handle the massive transaction volumes typical of the financial sector.
- Contribute to an innovative culture by staying abreast of emerging mainframe technologies and hybrid cloud integration strategies.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $135,000 – $175,000 per year (Estimated)
