Position Summary: Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Sira Consulting Inc is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SRE Engineer to join our engineering team in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. This position is strictly for local candidates, emphasizing the importance of deep integration with our local infrastructure and engineering culture. As an SRE, you will occupy a critical role at the intersection of software development and systems operations, applying engineering principles to solve complex operational challenges. Your primary mission will be to build, maintain, and evolve ultra-scalable and highly reliable software systems that meet the rigorous performance demands of our enterprise clients.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
- Drive Operational Readiness: Ensure that all products and services adhere to stringent production readiness standards and practices before deployment.
- Define and Manage SLOs: Establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) that define the availability and performance metrics for every service, exercising key decision rights regarding production releases.
- Implement Observability: Develop and maintain sophisticated observability frameworks to monitor system health and ensure that services perform within expected operational characteristics.
- Focus on Scalability and Reliability: Design and develop production computing infrastructure capable of supporting highly complex and scalable distributed systems.
- Incident Management and Post-Mortems: Lead the response to system failures and conduct thorough post-mortem reviews to ensure problem solutions are complete and prevent recurrence.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Collaborate with governance and control groups to provide subject matter expertise on risk issues related to engineering technology and tools.
- Innovation and Emerging Tech: Proactively identify and integrate innovative solutions and emerging technologies to build more robust platform domains.
Technical Expertise and Skills
The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in both software engineering and systems administration. You should be proficient in at least one major programming language (such as Python, Go, or Java) and have extensive experience managing cloud-native infrastructure. Deep knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and Docker is essential. You must be an expert in using observability tools—such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or the ELK stack—to gain deep insights into system performance. A significant portion of this role involves automation; therefore, experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) is highly valued. You will be expected to make critical decisions, such as rejecting software that is operationally substandard, which requires excellent communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Your work will directly impact the reliability and scalability of our core services, requiring a meticulous approach to system design and a passion for automation.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 per year (Estimated)
