Position Overview: Senior Azure Infrastructure Architect
Square Hiring LLC is seeking a visionary Senior Azure Infrastructure Architect to lead our infrastructure transformation initiatives in Detroit, Michigan. As we navigate the complexities of 2026’s digital landscape, this role stands at the forefront of cloud innovation, focusing on the seamless integration of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and advanced Data Platforms. This is a high-impact contract position designed for a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, specifically specializing in Terraform automation and enterprise-scale data solutions.
Key Responsibilities and Strategic Objectives
The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end design, deployment, and management of Azure-based infrastructure. This includes architecting robust IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid cloud environments that are not only scalable and secure but also resilient enough to support mission-critical business operations. A significant portion of this role involves leveraging Terraform to automate every aspect of infrastructure provisioning, ensuring a consistent and repeatable deployment model across the enterprise.
- Design and implement sophisticated data pipelines and workflows using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and Event Hubs to support real-time data processing and analytics.
- Architect and manage comprehensive Azure data storage solutions, including Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Database, with a focus on high availability and disaster recovery.
- Develop and maintain a library of standardized Terraform modules to facilitate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and streamline resource management.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate Terraform and Bicep templates into CI/CD pipelines, enabling automated testing and deployment of infrastructure changes.
- Ensure rigorous data security, compliance, and governance within the Azure environment, adhering to industry standards and organizational policies.
- Monitor and optimize the performance and cost-effectiveness of Azure resources, identifying opportunities for cost savings through rightsizing and reserved instances.
- Document complex infrastructure designs and configurations, providing clear technical guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Expertise and Qualifications
We are looking for an expert with extensive experience across the full spectrum of Azure services, including compute, networking (VNETs, subnetting, NSGs), storage, and identity management (Entra ID). You must possess a deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and the intricacies of modern data pipelines. Proficiency in Terraform is non-negotiable, as is familiarity with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Bicep. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively and lead cross-functional teams toward successful project delivery.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,600 – $160,000 per year
