Role Overview
TechEra Global is seeking an experienced DB2 Systems Programmer for a high-impact onsite role in Salisbury, NC, Boston, MA, or Frisco, TX. This position requires a deep technical understanding of the IBM Mainframe environment, specifically focusing on DB2 for z/OS. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex database systems, performing migrations, and ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical data environments. This role is restricted to Green Card holders only.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and migration of IBM DB2 for z/OS, including recent versions such as DB2 12 and 13.
- Manage DB2 utilities including COPY, RECOVER, REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, and UNLOAD to ensure data integrity and performance.
- Support and install leading DB2 ISV tools from vendors like BMC, Broadcom (CA), and IBM (Admin Tool, Omegamon).
- Monitor DB2 performance and perform deep-dive tuning and problem diagnosis using traces and DSNZPARM settings.
- Interpret DB2 dumps for advanced problem determination and resolution.
- Automate system tasks using REXX, CLISTs, and other mainframe scripting languages.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to manage z/OS fundamentals, including JES2/JES3, SMS, and VSAM.
- Ensure high availability through the management of DB2 architecture, data sharing, and buffer pool optimization.
Technical Requirements
- 5-8 years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer.
- Expert proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SMP/E.
- Extensive experience with IBM DB2 utilities and ISV tools (BMC, Broadcom).
- Solid understanding of DB2 architecture, logging, and data sharing.
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced enterprise environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across multi-functional teams.
Desired Skills
- Experience with Parallel Sysplex and DB2 Data Sharing environments.
- Knowledge of IBM MQ for z/OS, IMS, or CICS connectivity with DB2.
- Familiarity with DB2 DDF (Distributed Data Facility) and remote connectivity protocols.
- Professional certifications related to DB2 for z/OS.
Work Environment
This is a strictly onsite role. Candidates must be prepared to work from one of the designated office locations in North Carolina, Massachusetts, or Texas. The environment is highly collaborative and requires a professional who can manage multiple priorities while maintaining the highest standards of system reliability.

Compensation & Location
Salary: $145,000 – $188,000 per year (Estimated)
